TEEN LIFE 2024-2025

Teen Homeschoolers At Harmony

Study Center
@CCUU

14-18 year olds

The rented space at CCUU gives us the chance to offer a Teen Study Center with up to two comfortable rooms (depends on interest!) outfitted with couches & chairs.  This will be a place just for older students with 2 dedicated zones for small group work and quiet, independent study.  In this "social media-free" zone, tweens & teens have the chance to make connections with peers, learn in community, benefit reciprocally from peer-tutoring, enjoy a change of scenery from home, & just combat loneliness!

The teenage years are a time when social relationships take on new importance...and opportunities to develop them can be hard to find for homeschooling teens!

Our study center will be monitored by an adult volunteer to ensure safety, problem-solve/provide support as needed, and encourage independence.

Teen drop-in study center 2024-2025 will be available Tuesdays from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.

An unlimited drop-in pass will cost an estimated $75/semester or $150/year, (that's $1.00/hour if you come each available day.  (Cost covers space rental, insurance, & supervision.  If there's not enough interest we will scale back to 1 room for a reduced cost.  We need about 30 kids to fund this).

Registration will begin Monday, July 22nd on this website.

Learning to Lead

Harmony will offer volunteer ($100 stipend) opportunities for teens 15+ to gain hands-on experience working with younger children under the mentorship of an experienced adult leader.  Apprentices must apply, interview & be selected.  Teen Apprentices commit to fulfilling an on-going position assisting/supervising younger children in the Pathfinder Program.  Click here for details.

What's more, teens will develop leadership skills responsibility, and great resume assets for the future.

Assistant positions can be broken into shifts.

Interested students who will be 15 by September should apply through the appropriate Teen Apprentice application form on our Work at Harmony page.

Community Support

Teens need to engage with and feel supported by their peers perhaps more than at any time in their young lives.  Yet, if you're homeschooling, finding a consistent community, source of positive social opportunities, & source of friendships can feel next to impossible.  HCCH aims to solve that problem for good.

We are excited to include the teens in shaping a positive social world here at Harmony Center both during and after school hours.  And yeah, we mean it when we say "no phones on campus."

Why?  It's all about building relationships and learning to connect.  (In real time.  Not through "likes" on Insta.)

Our goal is to strive to create a culture of respect, gratitude, independence, & kindness where teens' individuality is celebrated.  We want our kids and teens to work on figuring out who they are while they're at Harmony--not figure out who they have to "become" just to fit in.

Service projects, hangouts, celebrations, student input & leadership... we see it all in our future.

If you're a family who values tolerance, compassion, and authenticity, then we hope to be your teen's home-away-from-home.
