Membership Conditions/Policies

In addition to the Harmony Tenets, members must meet/accept the following conditions & policies.

I. Attendance and Participation

1. Membership is required for participation in all Harmony-related functions.

 

2. Members agree to…

 

   a. Access the property only during stated operating business hours or for the duration of official Harmony Center events.

   b. Wear their member name tag when on premises and/or participating in Harmony events.

   c. Sign in/out when on premises or participating in Harmony events.

   d. Register for events in a timely fashion & attend in accordance with registration.

   e. Communicate absences as soon as they are known for registered events.

   f. Refrain from bringing outside guests to Harmony events (exception:  invited events such as performances, special celebrations, etc.)

   g. Direct requests for visits from potential new members to the director so arrangements can be made in advance.

   h. Acknowledge that planned events and activities are subject to change as life unfolds, including the possibility of nominal additional supplies cost for event (optional participation).

    i. Refrain from posting any pictures or videos of Harmony members (outside your family) to social media accounts without their express consent.  

II. Safety and Well-Being

 

1. In the interest of maintaining a welcoming and secure space for all, members will…

  a. Keep Harmony peanut-free (although the Countryside Church/Playground may or may not be).  

  b. Ensure children wash hands upon entering the building.

  c. Change kids’ and babies’ clothes & diapers in the bathroom only.

  d. Refrain from wearing clothing that distracts or detracts in the following ways:  

         i. Contains images or words readily considered offensive, derogatory, or inflammatory.

         ii. Exposes undergarments or exposes any body part commonly covered by undergarments. 

 e. Act with kindness. Harmony has a zero tolerance policy for verbal or physical threats made to the safety/security of others – whether on or off Harmony property. 

         i. This is grounds for immediate termination of Harmony Center membership without a refund. 

         ii. When warranted, the proper authorities will be notified and legal action may be taken. 

  f. Avoid bringing any weapon - real or toy - to Harmony premises indoors or outdoors. Doing so is grounds for immediate termination of Harmony Center membership without a refund.

  g. Report concerning incidents (such as experienced or witnessed bullying) through our online form on the website (under Member Area).

 

2. In order to maintain a safe, positive, and equitable environment for all, Harmony will address on-going behavioral concerns via this protocol:  1. Verbally  2. In writing  3. Family meeting/plan  4. Temporary suspension  5. Dismissal.  

     a.   Certain behaviors may result in immediate dismissal from the program without following the progressive disciplinary steps. These behaviors include but are not limited to: 

- Physical violence or threats of violence. 

- Possession of weapons or illegal substances. 

- Theft or destruction of property. 

- Severe bullying, harassment, or discrimination. 

- Any other behavior deemed by the program

coordinator as severely disruptive or dangerous.

III. Membership Approval

1. Completing a membership application does not guarantee membership.  As a private organization, Harmony Center for Homeschoolers reserves the right to refuse membership and service at the director’s discretion or if applicants do not meet the standards for membership:

 

  a. Harmony Center membership is available only to families who currently homeschool at least one child (ages 2-18) full-time.

  b. We reserve the right to refuse services at any point if we feel we cannot safely/reasonably serve the best interests of a child, or in situations where the intensity of a child's particular needs or behavior impede the quality/safety of the experience for other members (without guarantee of a refund). Please disclose pertinent information that would impact a child or staff member’s experience or safety at Harmony during the application process.

  c. Harmony Center offers family memberships. As such, applicants must disclose the following information about all members of the immediate family residing in the primary household: 

         i. Appearance on a sex offender registry by any member of the primary household (disqualifies the entire family from membership consideration).

         ii. Criminal record of a class A misdemeanor (non-traffic related) or felony (grounds for disqualification from membership

consideration and/or if applicable, termination of membership without refund).

  d. All legal guardians who intend to participate in Harmony functions must be included on the application to be considered “members.”  The application provides space for 2 adults plus an “alternate caregiver.”  Additional legal guardians from a separate household can also be added as needed by contacting the Harmony director via e-mail. 

2. Any approved membership may be revoked immediately without refund if the information submitted on the application is discovered to be untrue or inaccurate, whether intentional or not.

 

3. Once an application has been received and accepted, membership fees are non-refundable.  Membership applications which are denied upon receipt will be refunded any/all fees submitted. Memberships which are terminated by Harmony Center may not be refunded.  

 

Please Note:  We hope you make wonderful new friends at Harmony, but do your own due diligence when forging any new relationship–Harmony Center for Homeschoolers, LLC makes no claims/warranties/guarantees about the criminal/legal history or personal character of any members or individuals with whom members associate.
